Long time Cobb’s golfer Pat Porrini passes away at 96

July 3, 2019 update:  On June 25 long time fan of Cobb’s Creek, Pat Porrini, passed away in Clearwater, Florida.  Pat was friends with Lou Camilli, who left us last month as well.  Rest in peace, Pat.  You and Lou make a tough twosome to beat!

Pat, truly part of the “greatest generation” was born in West Philadelphia, and after graduating from Overbrook HS became a ship fitter at the Philadelphia Navy Base during World War II.  Thereafter he was a helicopter test flight engineer and ultimately pursued a career in electrical design and engineering.  He played football in the semi-professional Knute Rockne league, is a member of the PA Bowlers Hall of Fame, earned a gold medal for the United States bowling team in world competition, and then at age 66 became club champion at Hercules Golf and Country Club.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, at St. Matthias Church, Bala Cynwyd. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s name can be made to Cobbs Creek Restoration and Community Foundation, 300 Four Falls Corporate Center, 300 Conshohocken State Road #405, West Conshohocken, PA 19428.
