News you’ve been waiting for: the lease has been signed!

July 18, 2019 update:  Last night in a presentation at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, The Cobbs Creek Restoration and Community Foundation publicly announced that a long-term lease has been signed with the city of Philadelphia for the restoration of the Cobb’s Creek Golf Course. Although it is likely that a more ceremonial celebratory event will take place in the near future to commemorate this occasion, the news was very well received by the packed audience in attendance.

The group also laid out plans and a proposed timetable for next steps. Essentially, the remainder of 2019 and all of 2020 will be spent in the permitting and planning and fundraising stages. Accomplishing that, the course will undergo construction and seeding during 2021 with a planned reopening during the May or June 2022 time frame. More to come as events warrant during this very exciting time.

We are at this stage of the project due to the dedication and commitment of John Burnes and Chris Lange, leaders of the Cobbs Creek Restoration and Community Foundation.
