January 22, 2018 update: A friend of mine, a member at Philmont CC, was recently doing some historical spelunking at the Golf Association of Philadelphia archives and came upon some handwritten notes on Philmont suggesting Hugh Wilson may have been even more involved with the South course than I was previously aware. This blog’s September 5, 2014 post talks about Wilson and his design of the 10th and 11th holes. These GAP archive notes suggests the first 5 holes were redesigned by Wilson in 1915. I’m not quite sure of the routing at that time for the South course, but my friend is digging further into this topic!
